D DAY Poetry Competition Winners Announced!
On the 6th of June 2024, we gather to remember the 80th Anniversary of D Day, marking the successful allied invasion of the beaches of Normandy, which played a crucial role in liberating Western Europe from Nazi occupation.
We also celebrated the winner of our D Day poetry competition. A big thank you to everyone who entered. Our young poets truly astounded us with their heartfelt and creative poems, each one a remarkable tribute to our past, making it impossible to select just one winner. So much so, we decided to award not one, but two winners in the end!
We’re thrilled to announce that Olivia (aged 11) from St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School and Reggie (aged 10) from Burton Bradstock CE Primary School and Pre-school have emerged victorious. Their compelling poetry has earned them both a fantastic family pass (2 adults and 2 children) to the wonderful Nothe Fort in Weymouth, which we’re sure they will thoroughly enjoy. Their winning entries are available for you to read below.
